Spiritual Direction

What is Spiritual Direction?

It is the recognition that God is everywhere, present, all-knowing, and fully available to each one of us.  It is a time dedicated to engaged listening with the intention of discerning what God is specifically speaking to you individually or to the church.  Spiritual direction, in the most basic sense, can be seen as a purposeful slowing down to listen to what God is saying in your pursuit of a deeper relationship with God.

What is a Spiritual Director?

A trained listener who serves as a companion in your spiritual journey.

What to expect?

  • One can meet with a spiritual director in person, over the phone, or via video conferencing.

  • A session usually lasts for about an hour and takes place about once a month.

  • Every meeting is confidential, and the spiritual director will guide the dialogue through attentive listening and thoughtful questions.

What are some common misunderstandings surrounding Spiritual Direction?

  • That spiritual direction is a synonym for counseling, discipleship, or mentoring relationships.

  • Spiritual direction does not replace any of these but will serve to complement each.

What is the fee for the session?

Spiritual Direction is part of our ministry, and we do not have a set fee per session.  It is a joy to journey alongside you in your spiritual walk.  If you would like to give an offering to help support our ministry, that would be graciously accepted. Spiritual Directors who do charge typically request $50-$100 per session.

We are:

Trinitarian. Facilitating disciples as they take their place at the table in communion with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Contemplative. Recognizing that the way to this communion is through an intentional decision to seek out the solitude needed to form a lifestyle of attentive listening in order to identify the invitations of the Trinity.

Biblical. Understanding that the standard of this relationship is ultimately the Inspired Word of God, upon which we measure the fruits of our communion.
